Discount on Train Tickets: The railways have announced good news for daily train commuters. Now, if you purchase a general ticket and pay digitally, you will receive a direct discount on the ticket price. The Ministry of Railways has decided to offer a 3 percent discount on unreserved tickets purchased through the RailOne app. This facility will be available from January 14, 2026, to July 14, 2026. This will directly benefit millions of daily commuters.
Changes to be made in the system

To implement this scheme, the Ministry of Railways has instructed the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) to make the necessary changes to the software system. As soon as passengers book tickets on the RailOne app from the specified date, they will automatically receive a 3% discount. The railway’s objective is to promote digital payments and simplify the ticket purchasing process.

R-Wallet cashback will continue as before
Currently, a 3 percent cashback is offered on payments made through R-Wallet on the RailOne app. The railways have clarified that this facility will continue. The special feature of the new scheme is that the discount will now be available not only for R-Wallet payments but also for payments made through UPI, debit cards, and other digital payment options.

Digital payments to be promoted
According to railway officials, this benefit was previously limited to certain payment methods. Now, more passengers will be encouraged to adopt digital payment methods.
