Ration Card: The government has made e-KYC mandatory to make the ration card system transparent and free from fraudulent beneficiaries. This is considered the last chance for those who have not yet completed e-KYC for their ration cards. After the deadline, such cards may be temporarily removed from the ration distribution system.
Why is the December 31st deadline important?
According to government directives, if e-KYC is not completed by December 31st, ration distribution may stop from January 1st. In addition, benefits from approximately seven different welfare schemes linked to the ration card may also be suspended. Therefore, every member’s verification must be completed on time.
Easy way to do Ration Card e-KYC from home
Under the digital facility, beneficiaries can now perform face e-KYC using their mobile phones. For this, they need to download the ‘Mera KYC’ and ‘Aadhaar FaceRD’ apps. After filling in the location in the app, the Aadhaar number, captcha, and OTP need to be entered. After the information is verified, the face e-KYC option is selected, a photo is taken with the camera, and submitted. Once the process is complete, the e-KYC is successful.
How to check e-KYC status
Those who have already completed e-KYC should check their status once. The status is displayed in the ‘Mera KYC’ app after entering the Aadhaar number and OTP. If the status shows ‘Y’, it means the e-KYC is complete.
The offline e-KYC option is also available
If the mobile app is not working or there are technical difficulties, there is no need to worry. Beneficiaries can visit their nearest ration shop and get biometric verification done through the POS machine. It is necessary to carry the Aadhaar card and the ration card with you. After verification of thumb or fingerprints, the e-KYC is completed.
