On the auspicious occasion of the New Year, state-owned telecom company BSNL has presented its customers with a powerful gift that has left private giants like Reliance Jio and Airtel struggling. Under the BSNL Carnival Plan, consumers are now being offered a powerful package of 100GB of high-speed data and free entertainment with a small recharge of just ₹251.

While private companies are continuously increasing the prices of their plans, this new offer from BSNL is set to prove a boon for users seeking more data within a tight budget.

BSNL ₹251 Carnival Plan

BSNL announced this powerful offer through its official social media handle, directly targeting users who require large amounts of data. The biggest highlight of this ₹251 plan is its 100GB data, which can be used for a full 30 days. Customers also receive unlimited calling on any network. For entertainment enthusiasts, free access to BiTV, which offers over 400 live TV channels and great movies, is included. This powerful offer began on December 24th, and customers have until January 31, 2026, to avail themselves of its benefits.

Other Recharge Plans for the New Year

Not only the ₹251 plan, but BSNL has also enhanced several other popular plans in its portfolio. The company has increased the data limit on its existing plans without any additional charges. For example, the ₹225, ₹347, and ₹485 plans, which previously offered 2GB of daily data, have now been increased to 2.5GB. BSNL’s largest annual plan, ₹2,399, has become even more robust, offering 3GB of high-speed data per day instead of 2.5GB. This change is significant news for users who prefer long-term recharges and want to avoid data shortages.

Why is this a challenge for Jio and Airtel

Given the current market situation, companies like Jio and Airtel don’t seem to have a strong answer to BSNL’s ₹251 plan. Reliance Jio’s ₹299 plan offers a total of 42GB of data for 28 days, less than half of BSNL’s. Airtel’s ₹299 plan, on the other hand, offers only 1GB of daily data, a total of 28GB, with a validity of 28 days. Although Airtel offers features like AI subscriptions with its plans, BSNL has a much stronger advantage in terms of pure data and calling. This move by BSNL is being considered a major blow to break the monopoly of private companies.
