APAAR ID Card Explained: You may not have heard much about the APAAR ID Card yet, but it has become an essential part of India’s New Education Policy. APAAR is a unique student identification system that digitally stores a student’s academic records in one place. As a result, schools across the country are now required to issue APAAR IDs to their students.

Once a student’s academic data is linked to the APAAR ID, accessing educational records becomes much easier. This system helps students seamlessly track their academic journey without depending on physical documents. Here is a clear explanation of what the APAAR ID Card is, how to apply for it online, and why it is beneficial.

What Is an APAAR ID Card?

APAAR stands for Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry. It is a digital academic record system where students can view their educational details, certificates, and awards in one secure place. Both government and private schools are implementing APAAR IDs under the national framework.

However, an APAAR ID cannot be created without parental consent. Because the ID contains sensitive personal and academic data, parental or guardian approval is required before registration.

Why Is Parental Consent Required?

In addition to academic records, the APAAR ID may include personal information, such as health-related details, height, and weight. To maintain transparency and data security, parents are informed of the data being stored. For this reason, schools ask parents to complete and submit a consent form before issuing the APAAR ID.

How to Apply for APAAR ID Card Online?

To begin the process, visit the official APAAR portal at apaar.education.gov.in. Under the resources section, download the APAAR parental consent form. After completing all required fields, submit this form to the student’s school.

According to government data, more than 31 crore students have already been registered for APAAR IDs across India.

Next, visit the Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) official website at www.abc.gov.in. In the top-right corner, click on the “My Account” option and select the student category.

Students must then register on DigiLocker using their Aadhaar number and basic personal details. After logging in, Aadhaar-based KYC verification is required to complete authentication.

Once verified, students need to provide additional information, such as academic details and the school name. After submitting the form, the APAAR ID is generated successfully.

Finally, log in to the Academic Bank of Credit website again. On the dashboard, you can download or print the APAAR ID card.

Is the APAAR ID Card Mandatory?

Currently, creating an APAAR ID Card is not required for all students. However, the government is strongly encouraging students and educational institutions to adopt it. One significant benefit is that all academic records are stored digitally, making future college admissions and academic verification much simpler.

With a complete educational history available in one place, the APAAR ID is helpful throughout a student’s academic and professional journey.
