SBI Amrit Varsha FD Scheme: The State Bank of India (SBI) has hit its customers with another change just before the New Year. They’ve lowered the interest rate on their special FD scheme, the Amrit Varsha Yojana. Alongside this, the interest rates on regular FDs have also been cut. The special FD, Amrit Vrishti, has seen a reduction in its interest rate as well. SBI has previously made cuts to the interest rates on its special FDs too.
SBI’s Amrit Varsha FD
The Amrit Varsha FD scheme is a unique FD option with a duration of 444 days. When it was first introduced, SBI provided an annual interest rate of 7.25% for regular customers, 7.75% for senior citizens, and 7.85% for super senior citizens aged over 80. However, the interest rate has been slashed multiple times. As of December 15, 2025, SBI has once again decreased the interest rate for the Amrit Varsha FD scheme.
Here’s the current interest rate for Amrit Varsha
Starting December 15, 2025, the special FD Amrit Vrishti FD will yield 6.60% for general customers, 7.10% for senior citizens, and 7.20% for super senior citizens over 80 years old.
Interest rates for the Amrit Varsha 444 days FD scheme:
General Customers – 6.85%
Senior Citizen – 7.35%
Super Senior Citizen – 7.45%
What is the SBI Amrit Varsha Scheme?
This is a term deposit scheme from SBI Bank with a tenure of 444 days, meaning your investment will be locked in for that period. Both domestic and NRI customers can take advantage of this scheme. It applies to fixed deposits with an investment amount of less than Rs 3 crore. Interest payments can be received monthly, quarterly, or semi-annually.
How to invest?
Customers can invest via SBI branches, the YONO SBI and YONO Lite mobile apps, or through internet banking. By selecting the 444-day term, the plan will be activated automatically.
