Launch Timeline
Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV is expected to be launched in India in 2026. This SUV will be based on the platform of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and both models will have multiple mechanical and electronic parts common.
This electric SUV has already made its debut in the international market and has also recently launched for sale in Indonesia. There it is being sold solely as a CBU (Completely Built-Up) unit, with an on-road price of around IDR 759 million in Jakarta, ie around ₹40.78 lakhs. However, it will be different in India, as it will be local produced here.
Production
Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV for India will be built at the Gujarat plant in Suzuki. This is the same plant where Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will also be produced. This strategic partnership of Toyota and Suzuki will help keep costs down and make EV more accessible.
Toyota’s plan is clear. The Urban Cruiser BEV will be positioned below the bZ4X, so that it can reach more people. This is the reason why its launch timing is also thoughtfully kept. Performance
Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV is expected to have two battery pack options of 49 kWh and 61.1 kWh, just like International Markets. These battery packs will be given keeping in mind the different range needs.
Talking about electric motor, this SUV generates power of 172 hp and torque of 192 Nm. This output is considered sufficient for city drive as well as highway use. Smooth acceleration and silent drive will be the biggest strength of this EV, just as is expected from an electric car.
Features and Technology
Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV features no less than one. It will get a large touchscreen infotainment system, which will support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It will also be provided with digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof and flat-bottom steering wheel.
For comfort, it is expected to feature ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, and premium interior finishes. On the safety front, advanced features like six airbags and Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) make it future-ready.
