The primary objective of this scheme is to empower women financially, enabling them to increase their participation in the family, meet their basic needs, or start a small business. This assistance is not only available to married women, but also helps divorced and widowed women become self-reliant.

Mahtari Vandan Yojana was launched in Chhattisgarh by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 10, 2024. Under this visionary scheme, every eligible woman in the state receives direct financial assistance of ₹12,000 per year, with ₹1,000 transferred to their bank account every month. The primary goal of this scheme is to empower women with self-reliance, enabling them to actively participate in Chhattisgarh’s development, reduce social discrimination, and significantly promote women’s participation in families.

On December 3, 2025, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai successfully transferred the 22nd installment of the Mahatari Vandan Yojana to the bank accounts of eligible women. The Chief Minister stated that receiving funds directly into women’s bank accounts not only provides financial assistance but also significantly helps meet the nutritional, health, and educational needs of the family.

What to do if the money hasn’t arrived in the account

If the Mahatari Vandan Yojana funds have not yet been credited to the bank account of an eligible woman in Chhattisgarh, you can file an inquiry or complaint through the following methods to ensure timely resolution and have the funds deposited into your bank account:

First, beneficiaries must visit the official website of the Mahatari Vandan Yojana (mahtarivandan.cgstate.gov.in). After visiting the website’s home page, you must click on the “Complaint” option.

A new page will open, where you will need to enter the captcha code along with your beneficiary number, mobile number, or Aadhaar number. Next, you will need to write down the full details of your complaint. Your complaint will be registered.

Eligibility Criteria

The Mahatari Vandan Yojana is only for women from Chhattisgarh, including both divorced and widowed women. Certain strict criteria must be met to be eligible for the scheme:

Being a resident of Chhattisgarh is mandatory.

The woman must be between 21 and 49 years of age.

If a woman is already receiving any pension benefit, she will not be eligible for this scheme.

The woman must have her own bank account.

The bank account must be Aadhaar-linked and have DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) enabled.
