Aadhaar PAN Linking Process: Important news has arrived regarding your PAN card. UIDAI has clarified that you must link your PAN with Aadhaar by December 31, 2025, or your PAN will be deactivated from January 1, 2026. This means your PAN card will become inactive. With the PAN card deactivation, filing taxes, important bank transactions, and financial transactions will become difficult.
Also, new rules for Aadhaar updates have come into effect since November. You can now change your name, address, date of birth, and mobile number online. You’ll need to follow a few steps.
How to change your details online?
First of all go to myAadhaar portal.
It will be cross-checked with documents like PAN or passport.
There’s no need to upload many documents or visit a center. However, biometric changes like fingerprints, iris scans, and photos require a visit to an Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
You will have to pay this much charge
Additionally, a fee of Rs 75 will be charged for changing demographic details such as name, address, and date of birth. Biometrics will cost Rs 125, but online document updates are free until June 14, 2026. Biometric updates are free for children aged 5 to 7 and 15 to 17. Parents can easily do this.
How to link Aadhaar and PAN card?
- There are a few simple steps for this: Go to the Income Tax e-filing website https://eportal.incometax.gov.in/iec/foservices/ and you will see the “Link Aadhaar” option on the homepage.
- Then, enter your 10-digit PAN and 12-digit Aadhaar. Follow the instructions, make the payment, and then submit. The system will then automatically link and provide a confirmation.
- To check your status, click on Link Aadhaar Status on the same portal. Then, enter your PAN and Aadhaar. This will tell you whether the linking has been completed or not.
- Linking is crucial for those applying for a new PAN. Banks and finance companies will perform e-KYC using OTP or video. The entire process is fast and paperless. Anyone, whether in the city or the village, can do it. Aadhaar centers will also offer assistance, but online is the easiest method. UIDAI’s goal is to enable millions of people to update their PAN without hassle.
Is your PAN and Aadhaar linked or not?
You can check the status of your PAN by visiting the Income Tax website and selecting the “Verify Your PAN” option. Missing the December 31st deadline could lead to serious trouble.
