Amid the chaos at airports and widespread flight cancellations, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu has taken a tough stance. He categorically warned that a detailed investigation has been ordered into the Indigo crisis, and anyone found responsible for the situation will face strict action and pay a heavy price. Naidu stated that the inquiry committee formed by the central government will submit its report soon, following which necessary steps will be taken.
Detailed Investigation Ordered

Union Minister Naidu categorically stated, “We have formed an inquiry committee. Every aspect of what went wrong, why it happened, and under what circumstances, will be thoroughly investigated.” He stressed that this serious matter cannot be ignored.
The minister also stated that the top priority at this time is to restore normalcy and that passengers will be provided with every possible assistance. This bold statement brought relief to millions of travelers stranded at various airports across the country due to delayed or canceled flights.

Questions on FDTL Rules
The Union Minister also shed light on the reasons behind this massive crisis. He stated that the recently implemented new Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) rules will also be reviewed. There is talk in some circles that the new FDTL rules contributed to IndiGo’s operational crisis.
However, the Minister clarified that these rules were implemented just a month ago, and other airlines like Air India, SpiceJet, and Akash had adjusted their operations accordingly. According to him, what happened to IndiGo was not expected and clearly points to internal mismanagement within the airline.
Only 19.7% of flights operated

It is worth noting that IndiGo is India’s largest domestic airline and serves approximately 60% of domestic passengers. However, only 19.7% of its flights were operated on Wednesday. This figure was around 50% on Monday, rose to around 35% on Tuesday, but then fell sharply.
This unprecedented crisis at IndiGo has led to a rapid deterioration of the situation at several airports, including Delhi, Chennai, and Srinagar, and has led to a strong outpouring of passenger anger on social media. The government is taking this situation extremely seriously.
