90% subsidy on mushroom kits

The most attractive aspect of this government scheme is that farmers are being offered up to a 90% subsidy on mushroom kits. This kit provides all the necessary materials for mushroom production. With its help, even new farmers can easily start mushroom cultivation in their small space. The actual cost of a paddy or oyster mushroom kit is ₹75, with a subsidy of ₹67.50. A minimum of 25 and a maximum of 100 kits will be provided per farmer. This scheme is applicable in all districts of the state, allowing farmers from all regions to benefit.

Similar subsidy on button mushroom kits

Recognising the ever-increasing demand for button mushrooms, the government has also provided a 90 per cent subsidy on button mushroom kits. The unit cost of this kit has been fixed at ₹90, and farmers will receive a subsidy of ₹81 per kit. A minimum of 25 and a maximum of 100 kits will be available per farmer. This has been implemented uniformly across all districts of the state.

Special assistance on bucket mushroom kits

An option is also available for farmers who want to grow mushrooms in buckets. The unit cost of this kit is ₹300, with a subsidy of up to ₹270. Farmers can purchase a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 10 kits. Importantly, farmers purchasing paddy, oyster, or button mushroom kits can also benefit from this facility.

Promoting hut-based production

Many farmers cannot afford large or permanent structures, so the government has announced 50 per cent assistance for hut-based mushroom production. This facility is a relief for farmers who wish to pursue this business despite limited resources.

How to Benefit from the Scheme

To avail the benefits of this scheme, farmers must apply online at horticulture.bihar.gov.in. Additionally, for information or assistance, farmers can contact their district horticulture officer. The state government believes that this initiative will motivate farmers to move away from traditional farming and toward high-value crops and product-based agriculture.
