What is the PM Vishwakarma Silai Machine Yojana?

The PM Vishwakarma Sewing Machine Yojana is not a separate scheme but a sub-component of the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana. Through this scheme, the government provides financial assistance, skill training, grants, and modern sewing equipment to the tailoring community. Applicants can easily apply online and receive all the benefits upon meeting the eligibility criteria.

Who is eligible under the scheme?

This scheme is only for those who are engaged in the tailoring or tailoring profession or wish to start one. Applicants must be over 18 years of age on the date of application. Applicants must not have previously taken a loan under any government credit-based scheme, such as PMMY, Mudra, or PM Svanidhi, in the last five years. Only one member of a family can benefit from this scheme. Individuals holding government jobs and their family members are not eligible.

Scheme Benefits and Facilities

Under the scheme, modern tailoring training is provided. A daily grant of ₹500 is provided during the training period. A certificate is issued upon completion of the training. The government also provides financial assistance of up to ₹15,000 for the purchase of a tool kit. Loans of up to ₹1 lakh in the first phase and up to ₹2 lakh in the second phase are provided for sewing machines or business expansion at a mere 5 per cent interest rate. Training programs are conducted by the MSME Department at the district and tehsil levels.

How to Apply for the PM Vishwakarma Yojana

  1. To avail the benefits of the scheme, applicants must first register on the website pmvishwakarma.gov.in.
  2. After completing the registration, the applicant beneficiary logs in by entering their mobile number and captcha code.
  3. After logging in, they must fill out the Artisan Registration Form.
  4. Upon successful registration, they can download their digital ID and certificate.
  5. After this, they apply for tailor-related schemes, including tool kits and loans, under different components.
  6. The application can be submitted by uploading the required documents.
  7. Offline applications can also be completed at the nearest CSC centre.

Required Documents

Aadhaar card, income certificate, residence certificate, mobile number, bank passbook, and passport-size photo are required to apply for the sewing machine scheme.
