From government schemes to banking services, the Aadhaar card has now become a mandatory document everywhere. For this reason, UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) repeatedly advises people to update their Aadhaar information periodically. The deadline for linking PAN card with Aadhaar is December 31, 2025, making it mandatory to complete this process before then. UIDAI has simplified many Aadhaar update services online, allowing people to update their information within minutes from the comfort of their homes.
The biggest piece of good news is that UIDAI has made the online address update feature completely free until June 14, 2026, which was previously a paid service.
Complete process of updating Aadhaar details online

A new screen will display your current address. Enter the new address below it and upload a valid address proof. (Note: The document must be in JPEG/PNG/PDF format and up to 2MB).

How to download e-Aadhaar
Downloading a digital Aadhaar is also very simple.
Visit the UIDAI website and select the “Download Aadhaar” option.
Select either Aadhaar number, Enrolment ID (EID), or Virtual ID (VID).
Enter the required information and captcha. Click “Send OTP” and enter the OTP received on your mobile.
After verification, your e-Aadhaar PDF will be downloaded.
The password to open this PDF is the first four letters of your name (in CAPS) + year of birth.

Linking PAN with Aadhaar
Linking PAN and Aadhaar on the Income Tax portal is very easy. Visit incometax.gov.in and select “Link Aadhaar” from Quick Links. Enter your PAN, Aadhaar number, and name as per Aadhaar. Verify the details and proceed. If there is a fee for linking, pay via net banking, UPI, or card. After submitting the request, you will receive a verification of successful linking.
Rules for updating mobile number, email, or biometrics
There are certain critical pieces of information that you cannot update online. These include your mobile number, email address, fingerprint, iris, or photo. To make these important updates, you must visit your nearest Aadhaar Enrollment/Update Center. You will also need to pay a fixed fee for these updates. It is important to update your biometrics on time to ensure your identity remains accurate.
