Now, you can apply for a ration card online from the comfort of your home using your mobile phone. Currently, the Umang app is available in states like Chandigarh, Ladakh, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. However, in the coming days, this service will be implemented in all cities, making it easier for residents to apply for a ration card from the comfort of their homes. Android smartphone users can download the UMANG app from the Google Play Store. iPhone users can download the app from the Apple App Store.

How to apply for ration card through Umang app

First of all download the Umang app on your phone.?

Register through mobile number and proceed further.

Now go to the home page and go to the Services section.

Go to the Services section and find the option related to Ration Card in Utility Services.

Click on Apply Ration Card.

Now select your state and fill all the required information correctly.

After filling all the information, upload the required documents and submit.

Eligibility

A citizen of India who is above 18 years of age.

No one in the family should be in a government job.

The annual income of the family should be less than Rs 5 lakh.

If a person is receiving pension then the pension amount should not exceed Rs 10,000.

eKYC is also mandatory for ration card holders.

Ration card is E-KYC i.e. Know Your Customer. The reason behind this is to verify the identity of ration card holders and eliminate fake ration cards. Completing the KYC process will only benefit those who are eligible. If a fake ration card is in someone’s name, it can be eliminated. Under the eKYC process, every ration card holder has to match their name, date of birth, etc. with their Aadhaar data.
