The central government has confirmed that several lakh cases have been identified where farmers have violated the scheme’s rules. The primary purpose of removing these names from the eligibility list is to ensure that government funds reach only genuine and needy farmers.
Main Eligibility Violations
According to the government, the cases found ineligible primarily include:
People who acquired land after February 1, 2019.
Multiple members of the same family receiving benefits simultaneously—such as spouses, senior relatives, or even minors.
People who belong to the higher income group or are in government jobs.
Over 35.44 lakh names violating the scheme’s norms have been temporarily removed from the PM-KISAN beneficiary list under the National Purification Drive.
Physical Verification
The government has made it absolutely clear that the removals are not permanent. The process of physical verification will soon begin to re-include genuine farmers. After this verification, farmers found to be genuinely eligible will be re-included in the beneficiary list.
Delay in the next installment
The 21st installment of the PM Kisan Yojana has not yet been released, nor has an official date for its distribution been announced. The government has clarified that installments will be released only after the verification process is completed. This is intended to ensure that funds reach only genuine farmers. According to preliminary estimates, approximately 5 million farmers may be declared ineligible after verification. Speculations that the annual benefit amount may be increased from ₹6,000 to ₹9,000 remain unconfirmed.
Immediate Action for Farmers
The Center has urged all farmers to remain vigilant and take immediate action. Farmers should immediately check their eligibility status in the “Know Your Status” (KYS) or “Eligible Status” section on the official PM Kisan website or mobile app. If your name has been mistakenly removed from the list and you are indeed eligible, immediately verify your information online or through Meeseva centers and reapply. This verification campaign is crucial to fully strengthen the integrity and effectiveness of the scheme, ensuring timely financial support to farmers.
