SBI Card’s statement also makes it clear that higher fees will be levied, especially on transactions related to education payments and wallet loads. Furthermore, these changes could directly impact your wallet. This will provide relief to users by allowing them to make payments directly to the institution. This means there will be no fees charged on their official websites or on campus point-of-sale terminals. This will be a significant change for SBI Card.

How much will the fee be charged on education payments?

According to SBI Card’s new rules, starting November 1st, if you pay school, college, or educational institution fees through third-party apps like aggregators or payment apps, a 1% charge will be levied on the transaction amount. Furthermore, SBI Card’s notification clearly states that this fee will apply to educational payments.

Also, this fee will not be charged if you make payments directly to the institution. This means that if you use the card through the college’s official payment channels, you will not incur the 1% charge. This information has been shared on SBI Card’s official website.

From November 1st, 2025, a 1% fee will be charged on education payments made through third-party apps. Importantly, payments made directly through the college’s official website or POS machine will not incur any charges.

Wallet load charges will also apply.

Most importantly, SBI Card users will be charged a 1% fee even if their wallet load exceeds ₹1,000. This means that every time you add a balance of ₹1,000 or more to your digital wallet, 1% of the loaded amount will be automatically deducted. For example, if you load ₹5,000, a fee of ₹50 will be deducted. Starting November 1st, this fee will be deducted for every wallet load transaction exceeding ₹1,000.
