If you’re considering making any changes to your Aadhaar card, this news is crucial! As the most important identity and address document in the country, the Aadhaar card is used for everything from government schemes to educational purposes.
Meanwhile, the UIDAI has revised the rules and fees for Aadhaar updates, effective November 1, 2025. You may now have to pay a higher fee for changing your name, address, or biometrics. Learn about the full list of new fees, the process for making changes promptly, and the deadline for linking your PAN card.

These new fees will be applicable for Aadhaar updates from November 1
The UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) has released new fee rates for various services at Aadhaar centers. These rates will become effective on November 1, 2025. Demographic updates, such as updating your name, address, or mobile number, will cost ₹75. If you wish to update biometrics, such as fingerprints, iris, or photo, the fee has been increased to ₹125.
However, relief has been provided for children: biometric updates will remain completely free for children aged 5 to 7 and 15 to 17. A fee of ₹40 will be charged for reprinting an Aadhaar card. For home enrollment, a fee of ₹700 will be charged for the first person and ₹350 for each additional person at the same address. Currently, online document updates are free until June 14, 2026, but after that, a fee of ₹75 will be charged for this service at the center. Therefore, it is wise to update online in a timely manner.
Linking PAN with Aadhaar has become mandatory

Another very important task is linking the PAN card with Aadhaar. UIDAI has issued a notification to every PAN card holder to link their PAN with Aadhaar by December 31, 2025. If you fail to do so by the deadline, your PAN will become inactive from January 1, 2026.
After this, you will neither be able to file income tax returns nor use the PAN card for any financial transactions. The government has taken this step to prevent fraud and tax evasion. You can easily complete this process by visiting the official Income Tax website (www.incometax.gov.in) or the UIDAI website.
