8th Pay Commission Update – Central employees and pensioners are eagerly awaiting the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission. The new Pay Commission hasn’t even been formed yet, let alone implemented. Once formed, it will undergo a review and be implemented based on several criteria. Diwali has already passed, and today is Govardhan Puja.
Tomorrow, Thursday, the festival of Bhaiya Dooj will be celebrated, after which the government may make a surprising decision on the 8th Pay Commission. It is expected that the committee for the new Pay Commission will be formed in November. If this happens, central employees are expected to experience significant salary increases. Find out how much they will receive.
Salaries will increase based on the fitment factor.
As soon as the 8th Pay Commission is implemented, salaries can be increased based on the fitment factor. The fitment factor is the basis for calculating the increased salaries of central employees. In fact, the Pay Commission is implemented based on the fitment factor. If an employee’s basic salary is ₹20,000 and the fitment factor is 2.57, then ₹20,000 x 2.5 = ₹50,000. Based on this, a basic salary increase of up to ₹30,000 is expected.

If the 8th Pay Commission’s fitment factor is set at 2.86, then the salary will increase accordingly. This means that an employee’s salary of ₹18,000 can easily increase by up to three times. The basic salary of Level-1 central employees is up to ₹18,000. With a 2.86 fitment factor, the salary can be up to ₹51,000. This will translate into a salary increase of up to ₹34,000. This will be a booster dose for employees amid inflation.
When will the new Pay Commission be implemented?
The question of when the 8th Pay Commission will be implemented has become a major one. The 8th Pay Commission was approved in January 2025, but the government has yet to form it.
Some media reports suggest the 8th Pay Commission will be implemented on January 1, 2026, but this seems unlikely now. The government has implemented a new Pay Commission every ten years. Seven Pay Commissions have been implemented so far. However, it may take time for the new Pay Commission to be implemented.
