According to the RBI calendar, banks in many parts of the country will be completely closed on October 21st on the occasion of Diwali Amavasya and Govardhan Puja. Where will banks be closed on October 21st?

According to the Reserve Bank of India, October 21st will be a bank holiday in many areas. According to the calendar, banks will be closed in Belapur, Bhopal, Gangtok, Guwahati, Imphal, Jammu, Mumbai, and Nagpur. In addition, banks in Raipur and Srinagar will also observe a bank holiday to commemorate Diwali Amavasya, Deepawali, and Govardhan Puja.

Diwali, also known as Deepawali Amavasya, is considered one of the major Hindu festivals. On this day, Lord Rama vanquished Ravana, the symbol of evil, and returned to Ayodhya. October is also expected to be filled with holidays. Banks will remain closed in several cities on October 22, 2025, for Diwali, Vikram Samvat New Year’s Day, Govardhan Puja, Balipadyami, and Lakshmi Puja. These include Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bengaluru, Dehradun, Gangtok, Jaipur, Kanpur, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Nagpur.

Banks in Ahmedabad, Gangtok, Imphal, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Shimla will also be closed on October 23rd for Bhai Bij, Bhai Dooj, Chitragupta Jayanti, Bhatri Dwitiya, and Ningol Chakkouba. Furthermore, banks in Kolkata, Patna, and Ranchi will be closed on October 27th for Chhath Puja. Banks in Patna and Ranchi will also be closed on October 28th for Chhath Puja. Ahmedabad will also be closed on October 31st for Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary.
