Diwali Insurance: This Diwali, you can now protect your family from firecracker accidents for just Rs 5. Fintech company CoverSure has launched a firecracker insurance policy that will cover accidents during the festival. This policy will be valid for 10 days and can be purchased directly from the CoverSure platform. Previously, PhonePe also launched firecracker insurance for Rs 11.

This policy provides coverage of up to Rs 50,000 for accidental death and up to Rs 10,000 for burn injuries. The company says its goal is to promote safety during the festival season and provide affordable insurance to ordinary families. Saurabh Vijayvargiya, Founder and CEO of CoverSure, said, “Diwali is a festival of joy, but it also carries the risk of accidents from fire or fireworks. This insurance, available for just Rs 5, is a small but effective safety net for families. We want insurance to become a part of people’s everyday lives.”

According to the Delhi Fire Service, there was a 53% increase in fire and emergency calls during Diwali 2024. Cities like Bengaluru and Chandigarh also saw an increase in cases of eye injuries and burns. Before CoverSure, PhonePe also launched a firecracker insurance policy for Rs 11 last year, which received a good response from the people. The company relaunched it and named it Short-Term Firecracker Insurance Plan.

This special plan provides protection against accidents caused by firecrackers. The price of this policy is only Rs 11 including GST. The short-term firecracker insurance plan provides cover up to Rs 25,000. The biggest thing is that this plan is for only 11 days. This means that along with the joy of Diwali and other festivals, both your pocket and health will also get insurance protection cover. Both of these can be purchased from the insurance company’s website and app.
