PM SETU Scheme: The PM SETU Scheme was launched to modernize and industry-ready 1,000 ITI institutes across the country, including Bihar. This scheme will upgrade the quality of ITI training in Patna and Darbhanga cluster ITIs, as well as across the country, and enhance learning outcomes. The PM Setu scheme aims to empower ITI institutes across the country to develop curriculum aligned with industry demands, strengthen partnerships with industries, and adopt a holistic approach to institute development. The aim is to enable these institutes to develop a skilled workforce in line with the government’s vision of a developed India. Prime Minister Modi has stated that ITI institutes play a vital role in the country’s success. Given the changing times and rapidly evolving job nature, the government is ensuring that all students have access to modern courses.

What is the budget and benefits for the scheme?

Under the scheme, 1,000 ITI institutes across the country, including 200 hubs and 800 spokes, will be upgraded with an investment of Rs 60,000 crore. Model labs in these upgraded institutes will provide employable skills to youth. Over the next five years, approximately 2 million youth will gain employable skills through this scheme.

Based on proposals received from states, industry partners will be onboarded for the clusters selected in the first phase. Five National Centers of Excellence will be established in Ludhiana, Kanpur, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, and Chennai. These centers will provide advanced trainer training with the help of global partnerships. Additionally, guidelines for PM Setu have also been released.
