To reduce the margin of unemployment to some extent, the Rajasthan government has stepped up with a unique plan. As a part of their new initiative to generate employment, the state government has started a new scheme called The Mukhyamantri Shahari Rozgar Guarantee Yojana (MSRGY), which can be compared with Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). MGNREGA is a popular scheme across the nation and it proved effective in rural areas. Inspired from this initiative, Rajasthan state government has come with a new yojana named Mukhyamantri Shahari Rozgar Guarantee Yojana (MSRGY), this scheme is mainly designed for urban areas. The primary objective of this scheme is to provide guaranteed employment for up to 100 days a year to unemployed people in urban areas.
This scheme not only provides financial assistance to eligible individuals, but also expedites the completion of infrastructure development, sanitation, and beautification projects in urban areas. This scheme has become even more important given the increased unemployment since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Who can avail the benefit?
To avail the benefits of this scheme, it is mandatory to fulfill the following conditions:
Residence: The applicant must be a permanent resident of Rajasthan.
Age Limit: The age of the applicant should be between 18 to 60 years.
Area: The applicant must be a resident of the urban area.
Documents: It is mandatory to have a job card for registration in the scheme.
Employment: The applicant should not be already in any government or regular job.

Some essential documents are required to apply for the scheme:
Aadhaar Card, Jan Aadhaar Card/Ration Card
Address proof
Bank account passbook
Passport size photo
Eligible persons can apply with these documents by visiting their local municipal body office or through the government’s online portal.
What benefits will you get?
Under the scheme, eligible person will get guaranteed work for 100 days in a year.Daily wages will be deposited directly into the beneficiary’s bank account via DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) upon completion of work. The wage rate is determined by the government from time to time (currently approximately ₹259 to ₹300 per day). If work is not provided within 15 days of seeking work, the beneficiary will also get unemployment allowance as per rules.
