Durga Puja Bank Holiday- Bank customers stay alert. The Durga Puja celebrations have already begun, but banks in Kolkata and across West Bengal will remain open upto Friday, September 26. The bank holiday due to Durga Puja actually begins on Saturday, September 27, as it is the fourth Saturday of the month.
According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) calendar, banks are closed on second and fourth Saturdays and all Sundays. September 27 and 28 are the fourth Saturday and Sunday. Durga Puja bank holidays in Kolkata and West Bengal usually begin on Saptami (the seventh day of the puja). However, this year, the bank holidays are starting early due to the festival falling on a weekend.
