FASTag Annual Pass- Big update for FASTag users. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has introduced a new FASTag annual pass for private vehicles, jeeps, and vans. Priced at Rs 3,000, users have the option of making 200 toll-free trips or a validity of one year (whichever is shorter). Once the quota is exhausted, FASTag reverts to normal toll rates, providing a reliable option for frequent highway travelers.
Eligibility for the scheme
To purchase an annual pass, the vehicle must have a FASTag already registered to its registration number and cannot be blacklisted. This pass is for non-commercial private vehicles such as cars and vans. Vehicles with FASTags registered only based on the chassis number must update the tag with the correct registration number before applying. Commercial vehicles, buses, and trucks are prohibited.
How to activate the pass?
The activation process is simple and can be accessed through the Highway Travel app or the NHAI website. Applicants must log in, confirm eligibility, and make a payment of Rs 3,000 via UPI, debit/credit card, or net banking. After verification, the pass will be activated within 2 to 24 hours, and an SMS alert will be sent to the user. Payments should not be made using wallet balance.
The annual pass eliminates repeated toll payments at different plazas, making travel streamlined and predictable for regular commuters. It controls costs by limiting toll expenses to Rs 3,000 for 200 trips. It is convenient for long-distance highway drivers, regular family commuters between cities, and frequent daily commuters. It also reduces waiting times at toll plazas by simplifying pass transactions, saving time and fuel.
