EPFO 3.0- Before Diwali, employees may receive some good news. Withdrawing your PF (Provident Fund) will no longer require long waits, form filling, or office visits. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) is introducing a new system called EPFO 3.0 . According to media reports, it could be implemented before Diwali. Once this system is in place, you will be able to withdraw your PF funds directly from an ATM or UPI, just like you would from a bank.

Until now, if someone wanted to withdraw PF, they had to first fill out an online form, then submit the claim along with the documents. Sometimes, they had to go to the EPFO office to submit the form and wait for several days. But now this entire process is about to change. With the launch of EPFO 3.0, there will be no need to fill out any forms. No documents, no meeting with any officer. Simply open the UPI app on your mobile or go to a nearby bank ATM and withdraw your PF money.

How will this new system work?

With EPFO 3.0, PF accounts will now be directly linked to UPI and ATM networks. This means that just like you withdraw money from your savings account using an ATM, you can now withdraw money from your PF account. This will require the use of your Aadhaar card-linked mobile number or a secure PIN. This is designed to ensure security and ease of withdrawal. However, some limits may be imposed on PF withdrawals initially to ensure the system remains secure and prevents disruptions.

EPFO 3.0 isn’t just about making withdrawals easier. It will also launch a new digital platform that will provide all the information related to your PF account. You’ll now be able to check your PF balance on your mobile or computer, see how much is being deposited from your salary each month, and track the status of any claims you’ve filed. Any errors in your PF account, such as misspelled names, incorrect dates of birth, or problems with bank details, can now be corrected from the comfort of your home.

EPFO 3.0 was originally scheduled to launch in June 2025, but was slightly delayed due to technical preparations and testing. Now, it is expected to be implemented before Diwali. According to a Money Control report, a key meeting chaired by Union Labor and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya is scheduled for October 10th and 11th. This system could receive the green light during that meeting. If everything goes as planned, millions of people will have easy access to their PF funds before Diwali.
