OnePlus 13 vs. OnePlus 12 : With exciting improvements made to this smartphone, both in terms of aesthetics and user experience-cum-performance, the OnePlus 13 becomes an excellent deal as compared to OnePlus 12. Whether it makes any difference as an upgrade, however, is up for debate.

Design/Build Quality

Rumors have it that OnePlus 13 has new design profiles, a slim aluminum body, and a lightweight chassis adding to durability. The rear part comes frosted to disallow fingerprints while OnePlus 12 adds gloss to its back. Both phones are IP68-rated against water and dust, the newer model carries that little more premium feel in hands.

Display Enhancements

The OnePlus 13 comes with a 6.82-inch 2K AMOLED display, wherein peak brightness gives a figure of 4,500 nits, which presents beautifully smooth visuals while lending itself to clearer outdoor visibility. The OnePlus 12 is probably deserving of almost the same treatment within a similarly shaped pair of 2K AMOLED displays, but brightness and the old LTPO tech will be less. Both can boast of a 120Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision.

Camera System

Camera-wise, improvements have been seen on OnePlus 13 with its triple-camera setup of 50-MP primary sensor, 50-MP ultra-wide camera, and 64-MP telephoto lens with 3× optical zoom. This is a similar set-up to OnePlus 12 but having slightly older sensors paired with lesser advanced image processing. Night photography, HDR, and portrait shots have been taken to new levels on the OnePlus 13.

The OnePlus 13 boasts a whopping 5,500mAh battery, supporting 100W fast charging and 50W wireless charging standards. It is slightly high on battery life compared to OnePlus 12, which fed on 5,400mAh with a charge of 80W wired and 50W wireless. Charging times are still practically instantaneous for both of them, while the OnePlus 13 boasts of impressive endurance while gaming.

Software Features

While both come pre-installed with Oxygen OS based on Android 15, OnePlus 13 would supposedly get more pre-installed “intelligent” AI features and better multitasking utilities, which have a much more customized viewing experience per user. OnePlus is also promising the new device five years of software updates.

Because of its brighter display, better cameras, bigger battery, and speedier processor, OnePlus’s new offering will definitely be an upgrade from OnePlus 12. For the average user, OnePlus 12 should have enough power to carry him through without any bothers.
