Nowadays, online shopping is growing fast. Delivery boys are very important because they bring goods to our homes. In rain or at night, they ride on roads with big bags on their bikes. But do you know how much they earn, how to get this job, and how much companies pay them for each parcel?
According to some delivery boys, they deliver parcels in different areas of the city and earn money for each delivery. They told us about their earnings and the benefits they get. They also explained who pays if a parcel is lost or damaged.
How Delivery Boys Work and Earn
Delivery boys said that to become an Amazon delivery boy, one has to apply at the Amazon office in Sector 95. After submitting the form, verification is done, and then training is given. After three to four days of training, the candidate gets the job. Every delivery boy is given some sectors to deliver parcels. Many delivery boys can work in one sector. Registration for Myntra delivery boys can also be done at Myntra’s office.
During training, delivery boys are taught to talk politely to customers. They are shown different areas and routes so they can reach customers quickly using GPS or map apps. They are also taught how to lift and carry parcels safely so nothing gets broken. Training also includes handling customer complaints and delivering goods on time.
Delivery boys are taught how to handle cash on delivery, use online payments, update orders, and record their work in the app. Safety is very important. They are told to follow traffic rules, wear helmets, and keep parcels safe in bad weather. They are also trained to report emergencies like accidents, thefts, or customer problems.
Earnings, Rules, and Insurance
Delivery boys said that Amazon pays Rs 12 per parcel. In busy areas, they may deliver more than 100 parcels a day. On average, a delivery boy delivers about 80 parcels daily. Good delivery boys may get more parcels.
Myntra delivery partner Karan said he gets Rs 14 for each parcel and sometimes an extra Rs 2 incentive. So, he earns Rs 16 for some parcels.
If a parcel is lost or broken, delivery boys have to pay the full cost. For example, if a parcel worth Rs 800 is lost, the delivery boy has to pay Rs 800. If a parcel is broken, it must also be compensated. If the parcel is already broken before taking it, the delivery boy can return it and refuse to deliver.
Companies also provide insurance for delivery boys. Amazon gives insurance that includes bike accident coverage, which helps in case of an accident. About 372 people work in Amazon’s Noida office.
