Ration Card- Big setback for Ration Card holders. There is big news for ration card holders in Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh. 5 lakh 37 thousand 844 ration card holders of the district will not get free ration in the month of August. Not only this, their names will be suspended from the ration card for the next three months. The reason for this is not getting e-KYC done, for which warnings had been given several times.
According to the District Supply Department, it was mandatory for all ration card holders to get their e-KYC done under the instructions of the government. The deadline for this was extended several times, but lakhs of beneficiaries did not complete this process. As a result, now the department has shown strictness and stopped the ration of these beneficiaries. However, the names of 11,123 children up to 5 years of age will not be suspended for now.
More negligence in rural areas
There are a total of 8,88,315 ration cards in the district, through which ration is provided at cheap rates to about 34,68,348 people. According to the data, only 81.4% beneficiaries in urban areas and 78.57% beneficiaries in rural areas have done e-KYC. 5,13,075 beneficiaries in rural areas and 35,892 beneficiaries in urban areas have ignored this process.
District Supply Officer Akhilesh Kumar said that there are many reasons for the delay in e-KYC, such as mobile number not being linked, problems in Aadhaar authentication, technical problems and negligence of beneficiaries. He said, “We are constantly trying to ensure 100 percent e-KYC. If the government extends the deadline, the beneficiaries can get another chance. Otherwise, the names of those who are negligent will be removed from the ration card for three months.”
What will be the next step?
The department has clarified that ration will be stopped in the first phase. After this, the names of these beneficiaries can be completely removed from the ration card list on the next order of the government. Officials said that despite extending the deadline several times and running awareness campaigns, some people are not taking this process seriously. Ration card holders who have not yet done e-KYC should contact their nearest ration shop or the concerned office as soon as possible. If the deadline is extended, this may be the last chance.
