Ration Card Cancelled – Big news for Ration Card holders. In Haldwani, Halduchaud and Lalkuan of Uttarakhand, 10 thousand ration cards have been cancelled for not getting e-KYC done, due to which free ration has stopped. Despite the appeal of the Food Department, e-KYC was not done. Now consumers are reaching CSC centers for e-KYC. After the removal of the code of conduct, the distribution of salt and pulses has started again and new ration cards are being made.
After the Food Department canceled the ration card, consumers are now reaching the CSC Center and the Food and Supply Department office to get e-KYC done. Under the National Food Security Scheme of the Government of India, cheap and free ration is provided to the citizens through ration card.
The government had made e-KYC of ration cards mandatory a year ago. In which the Sasta Ghalla dealers and the team of the Food Department were appealing to the beneficiaries to get e-KYC done. Despite that, the beneficiaries were not getting e-KYC of the ration card done. In such a situation, the ration cards of the beneficiaries have been deleted from the software by the Haldwani Regional Food Department. Due to which the distribution of ration to the beneficiaries has also stopped from the related Sasta Ghalla shops.
Under the National Food Security Scheme, wheat and rice are given free of cost to the primary families (white card) and Antyodaya Yojana (pink). Whereas, salt is available at eight rupees per kg. Regional Supply Officer Divya Pandey said that after cancelling 10 thousand ration cards, now 30 to 40 people are reaching the office located on Rampur Road every day to get e-KYC done.
The ban on the code of conduct has been lifted, now the villagers will get salt and pulses
Due to the three-tier Panchayat elections, when the code of conduct was imposed in rural areas, the distribution of salt and pulses packets with the photos of the PM and CM was banned. At the same time, the making of new ration cards was also stopped.
After the code of conduct was lifted, the supply department has issued instructions to all ration dealers to distribute packets of salt and pulses in the villages. District supply officer Manoj Barman said that the process of making new ration cards in rural areas has also started. Ration distribution has started under the Chief Minister’s Salt and Pulses Poshit Yojana.
