There are reports that Sanju Samson and the Rajasthan Royals team management are not getting along. The report says Sanju Samson has given two conditions to the management. He has asked for a trade or release before IPL 2026. His family also said that Sanju does not want to be the captain of Rajasthan Royals anymore.

As per a Cricbuzz report, nothing is going well between Sanju Samson and the team management. Some players have also said that Sanju wants to leave the team. But why has Sanju changed his mind so suddenly?

Why Sanju Samson May Leave RR

This is still not confirmed, but reports say that Sanju Samson is not happy with his batting position. He likes to open in T20 matches. But after Vaibhav Suryavanshi played well in IPL 2025, Samson was moved to number three. He played only 9 matches in the season.

Samson may be upset about this. He is also trying to get a place in India’s T20 team as an opener. If he keeps batting at number three, his chances of getting selected may become less. This could be the reason why he wants a fresh start with a new team.

CSK Shows Interest in Samson

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is one team that wants to sign Sanju Samson. But CSK does not have enough money to buy him right now. To sign Samson, CSK may have to release one of their big players or some players who did not play much or did not do well last season.

Sanju Samson was first signed by KKR in 2012, but he did not play any match. Later, he joined Rajasthan Royals (RR) and made his debut against Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab). He played four seasons with RR. When RR was banned for two years, he played for Delhi Capitals. In the 2018 IPL auction, RR bought him again for ₹18 crore. In 2021, he was made captain. He started his captaincy with a century in his first match as skipper.
