Top 5 Safest Cars in India in 2025 as Rated by Bharat NCAP  : In today’s time, not only mileage and price, but safety has also become the biggest priority while buying a car. Keeping this in mind, the Government of India started “Bharat NCAP” i.e. Bharat New Car Assessment Program in 2023. This program evaluates the safety of cars on international standards like Global NCAP. So far Bharat NCAP has crash tested more than 20 vehicles, many of which have got 5 star rating. In this list, we are telling you about those 5 vehicles which have been considered the safest on the basis of the score of adult occupant protection i.e. Adult Occupant Protection (AOP).

All these cars have got 5 star rating, but their order has been decided according to AOP score. The child protection score of all the vehicles has been almost the same i.e. 45/49, so it has not been included in this ranking.

Mahindra Thar Roxx

The Mahindra Thar Roxx was tested by Bharat NCAP in November 2024 and scored an AOP of 31.09/32. This SUV is famous for its robustness and rough-tough image across the country. It has essential safety features like six airbags, seatbelt reminder on all seats, ISOFIX child seat anchors, electronic stability control (ESC), tire pressure monitoring system and passenger airbag cut-off from the beginning. Its higher variants also support ADAS features.

Tata Punch EV

The Tata Punch EV was tested in May 2024 and scored an impressive AOP score of 31.46/32. It was one of the first electric cars to be tested by Bharat NCAP in India. Tata has provided all the essential safety features like six airbags, ESP, hill hold control, ISOFIX mounts, rear parking sensors and TPMS as standard in this vehicle. Despite its price and compact design, this vehicle competes with big SUVs in terms of safety.

Mahindra BE 6

The top variant of the BE 6 ‘Pack Three’ was used during testing, but the safety rating applies to the entire model lineup. Mahindra’s new BE series clearly shows that the company is making EVs not only stylish but also safe.

Another electric SUV from Mahindra, the XEV 9e, was also tested in January 2025 and got 32 out of 32 marks in AOP. It was one of the first vehicles to receive full scores from Bharat NCAP. Even its base variant is equipped with all the safety features like six airbags, ISOFIX anchors, rear disc brakes and TPMS. Its electric coupe design and high-tech features make it a reliable option for the family.

Tata Harrier EV
