Electric cars are becoming more popular every month, especially among budget buyers. But now, India’s most affordable electric car has become a bit more expensive. If you’re planning to buy one, you’ll need to stretch your budget slightly due to the updated pricing and service changes MG has introduced for its Comet EV.
MG Comet EV
MG Comet EV is no longer as pocket-friendly as before. After a ₹36,000 hike in May 2025, the company has now raised prices again by up to ₹15,000. This makes it the second price hike in just a few months. Along with this, MG has also increased the cost of its battery subscription plan, which is now priced at ₹3.1 per km, up from the earlier ₹2.9 per km.
Price Hike Details
The new pricing affects both purchase models—one where the battery is included in the car’s cost, and the other where the battery is taken on a subscription basis. Without the subscription, the Executive variant now costs ₹7.50 lakh, which is ₹14,000 more than before.
Excite and Excite Fast Charging variants have received a ₹15,000 hike and are now priced at ₹8.57 lakh and ₹8.97 lakh, respectively. The Exclusive variant now comes at ₹9.56 lakh. The Exclusive Fast Charging and Blackstorm Edition variants are now available for ₹9.97 lakh and ₹10 lakh, respectively, with a ₹14,000 price bump.
Battery Subscription Model (BaaS)
For buyers choosing the battery-as-a-service (BaaS) option, there’s a mix of changes. The base Executive trim still costs ₹4.99 lakh. However, all other variants in this plan are now ₹15,000 more expensive. The updated prices are:
Excite: ₹6.20 lakh
Excite Fast Charging: ₹6.60 lakh
Exclusive: ₹7.20 lakh
Exclusive Fast Charging: ₹7.60 lakh
Black Storm Edition: ₹7.63 lakh
Additionally, the per-kilometer battery rental cost has gone up to ₹3.1 per km under this model.
New Features in Updated Variants
MG has made some updates to its feature list as well. Excite and Excite FC variants now get rear parking camera and power-folding ORVMs, offering better practicality. Meanwhile, Exclusive and Exclusive FC variants now come with leatherette seats and a 4-speaker audio system, giving the cabin a more premium feel.
