Electric SUVs are making all the headlines in 2025, and for good reasons. Increased range, loaded cabins with plenty of storage, and aggressive pricing have propelled EVs to be the intelligent choice for Indian buyers. And now that Tesla has joined the fray, things have just become more interesting.

Tesla Model Y

Tesla has formally gone on sale in India and begun taking bookings for the Model Y. It is Shanghai-imported and is available in two trims. The base Model Y RWD sells at approximately ₹60 lakh (ex-showroom), and the Long Range AWD retails at around ₹68–70 lakh. Tesla achieves a 622 km range test, but actual usage will see 500–530 km.

Its interior boasts tidy design, with a 15-inch infotainment screen, acoustic glass, and OTA software updates. Tesla also plans to establish its Supercharger network in Mumbai and Bengaluru, but initially, it will rely on third-party charging points. While the vehicle offers an excellent technology experience, its premium pricing and sparse after-sales network turn it into a premium offering for exclusive buyers.

Mahindra XEV 9e

Mahindra’s new flagship EV, the XUV 9e, which is developed on the INGLO platform, begins at a mere ₹21.99 lakh. Its top-of-the-line AWD variant is priced at ₹30.49 lakh. It has two battery options: 59 kWh for 542 km and 79 kWh for 656 km MIDC range.

Inside, it has three 12.3-inch screens, a Snapdragon 8295 processor, Harman Kardon sound, Level-2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, and a HUD. Safety is good as well, with a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating. It has fast charging from 20–80% in less than 30 minutes. Early customers have reported low-level software problems and cabin fit issues, which Mahindra can rectify in a while now.

Tata Harrier EV

Tata Harrier.ev begins at ₹21.49 lakh with an AWD variant available at approximately ₹27 lakh. Equipped with a 75 kWh battery, it provides ARAI-certified range of 627 km. Real-world range will be around 480–505 km.

The Harrier.ev comes equipped with a 14.53-inch Neo QLED screen, 10-speaker JBL Dolby Atmos, and a 540° camera system. It boasts ultra-glide suspension, terrain modes, and Level‑2 ADAS. A lifetime battery warranty is one of its standout points. With Tata’s robust service network, the Harrier.ev has long-term value and peace of mind.
