Refined and Lighter Design
Among the first things to catch one’s eye is the dramatic thickness and weight reduction. The Vivo X Fold 5 is just 4.3mm when folded out and 9.2mm when folded, a gain on its predecessor, the X Fold 3. It loses a few grams too, tipping the scales at 217g. The Titanium Grey colour option gives it an extra premium feel, although a wider palette of colours would have been a welcome option.
Premium Build with Handy Shortcuts
Vivo has added a customizable shortcut button over the volume rocker so users can easily access features such as flashlight, camera, voice notes, and more. The rear of the phone has a two-layer coating that provides an elegant touch. Its glass fiber back panel and carbon fiber support hinge enhance durability, and IP58, IP59, and IP5X ratings provide robust defense against water and dust.
Immersive Screens with Best Brightness
The X Fold 5 has an 8.03-inch LTPO flexible main display with a maximum brightness of 4,500 nits, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and support for a 120Hz refresh rate. The outer 6.53-inch display has the same brightness and certification, ensuring viewing content is smooth indoors or even under sunlight. The displays are clear, colorful, and ideal for productivity or multimedia.
Powerful Internals with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3
Though Vivo hasn’t evened out the chipset, keeping the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 of the X Fold 3, the performance is still smooth and quick in everyday use. Coupled with 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, the phone is powered by Android 15 overlaid with Funtouch OS 15, giving a recognizable and responsive experience.
Flexible Zeiss-Certified Cameras
Impressive triple rear camera setup features. The primary 50MP Sony IMX921 sensor comes with OIS, supported by a 50MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom and a 50MP ultra-wide lens. Selfies are taken care of by two 20MP front cameras on the cover screen as well as the main foldable screen. Bokeh and depth for portraits, along with bokeh, come via Zeiss tuning. Flagship photography is promised.
Massive Battery with Fast Charging Support
In a surprise move, Vivo was able to pack in a 6,000mAh battery into the super-thin body. The device charges with 80W FlashCharge and 40W wireless charging. For a foldable that is industry-leading and promises all-day use without sacrificing anything.
Final Thoughts: Foldable with Flair
The Vivo X Fold 5 offers significant improvements, particularly in design, battery life, and screen. Although it shares the same processor, its design, construction, and camera setup make it better. It matches up favorably against Samsung’s Z Fold 7 and Google’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and might be the best overall foldable of 2025. Check back for our full review.
