Tata Upcoming Car: Tata Motors is preparing to give the Indian car market a dramatic makeover. With massive plans in the pipeline, the company is set to inundate the market with a string of new and updated models. From all-new nameplates and powerful electric vehicles, Tata is very clearly set on conquering each and every segment in the years to come.

Tata’s Future Lineup Plan

Tata Motors has pledged a bold five-year plan to introduce about 30 new cars in India. Both new variants of existing vehicles and completely new vehicles are part of the plan. Seven will have brand-new nameplates, reflecting the company’s drive to move beyond facelifts and cosmetic changes. Tata wants to almost double the number of its existing passenger car models with a broader range of petrol, diesel, electric, and even possibly hybrid versions.

Electric Vehicles in Focus

Tata is already taking steps towards the electric line. The Harrier EV is already going on production, and subsequent electric variants are to follow soon. A major highlight is to be the comeback of the Sierra, which will emerge in the first instance as an electric vehicle. An early petrol version of the Sierra is also anticipated in the next financial year. This dual-powertrain strategy indicates Tata’s even-handed attention to both conventional and forward-looking cars.

Petrol Variants of Harrier and Safari

Until recently, the Harrier and Safari were on offer only with diesel variants. But Tata is set to introduce petrol variants of both of these models before this current financial year ends. These new models will be equipped with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that will churn out 168 PS and 280 Nm. This very engine will also power the new Sierra.

Updates Across Existing Models

The current lineup of Tata will not be neglected. The Altroz has already been given a facelift and is available for sale. Mid-cycle revisions are in the pipeline for the Tiago and Tigor, making them more desirable. The internal combustion variant of the Punch, which awaits a major overhaul, will also be updated. All these updates are meant to keep the existing range competitive until new models become available.

All-New Scarlet and Avinya Series

Tata’s future Scarlet compact SUV is another prominent model in the works. Not much information is available, but it is likely to bring more style and features to the compact SUV segment. The premium Avinya series, on the other hand, keeps upgrading and is likely to arrive with coupe-style and crossover designs in the near future.

New Generation Nexon

Tata is also developing the next iteration of the Nexon, which is presently one of its top sellers. Though the launch is not imminent, preparatory work is underway. The facelift Nexon will bring a new design along with fresh features when it finally launches.
