Huawei Mate X7: Huawei hasn’t announced its foldable phones for 2025 yet, joining the ranks of only one other major Chinese brand that isn’t shipping a foldable device this year. Oppo, Vivo, Honor, and Samsung have already rolled out their entries, but Huawei has two new ones planned for release in September: the Huawei Mate XT 2 and the Huawei Mate X7. A new leak from tipster Digital Chat Station now shows us several key specifications of the soon-to-be-released Mate X7.

Huge Inner Screen with High-Tech

The Huawei Mate X7 is said to come with a 7.95-inch inner screen at 2K resolution. This COE LTPO technology-based screen is covered with ultra-thin glass (UTG), which is designed to be more durable and efficient for the display. All these high-tech innovations are made to make the user experience even more enjoyable, particularly for those who value multimedia and productivity functions on foldables.

Next-Generation Kirin 9030 Chipset Anticipated

Under the hood, the Mate X7 is expected to be powered by Huawei’s upcoming Kirin 9030 chipset. While not yet officially announced, this next-gen processor is likely to deliver performance improvements and better power efficiency. This same chipset is rumored to appear in the Mate 80 series as well, positioning the Mate X7 among Huawei’s flagship-grade devices.

Dual Camera Sensor Options Being Tested

Huawei is trying out two varying primary camera sensors for the Mate X7. One is a 50-megapixel sensor measuring 1/1.56 inches, and the other is marginally larger at 1/1.3 inches. Both these models are rumored to have physical variable aperture, which would help capture more depth of field control and nighttime shots. Also, the phone may feature a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with macro and a multispectral sensor to improve color accuracy and image quality.

Slim Design with Flagship Features

Even though it is foldable, the Mate X7 should maintain a thin and light design. The device will also be tightly sealed with strong water resistance, making it an even more resilient model in its class. Similar to other recent Huawei flagships, the Mate X7 should ship with HarmonyOS 5.1 right out of the box, providing native integration within the Huawei ecosystem.

Mate XT 2 Still Under Wraps

Although information regarding the tri-foldable Mate XT 2 is limited, initial leaks suggest that ultra-flexible glass (UFG) would be used for the screen and possibly satellite connectivity support. This would potentially turn the Mate XT 2 into a tech showpiece next to the more traditional Mate X7.

Verdict: A Premium Foldable in the Making

With a snappy inner screen, luxurious materials, advanced camera technology, and an updated chipset, the Huawei Mate X7 is looking to be a flagship-grade foldable phone. Until official announcements, leaked specifications indicate Huawei is going for a new benchmark in the foldable phone market.
