Samsung Tri-Fold Phone: Samsung has recently launched its powerful Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7, and the heat of that excitement had not yet subsided that the company has surprised all the tech lovers with another tremendous news. Yes, Samsung is now preparing for its first Tri-Fold Smartphone and this time something really different is going to happen.
Till now there were only rumors of this device, but recently TM Roh, President and Head of Samsung’s Mobile eXperience Division, made it clear in an interview that the company is working fast on this tri-fold phone and the target is to launch it by the end of the year.
This is the first time the company has so openly confirmed the existence and launch timeline of this phone. This device is currently known as “Galaxy G Fold”, which could be the biggest foldable technology ever.
Tri-Fold Design
In the foldable phones we have seen so far, the screen folds only once – like in the Z Fold and Z Flip series. But this time the game is going to change completely. In the Tri-Fold smartphone, the screen will fold twice, that is, a large tablet-like screen will fit in your palm in a few seconds.
If the leaks are to be believed, its folding pattern will not be ‘Z’ but in ‘G’ shape, with two inward folding hinges and the screen divided into three panels. When it is fully open, it can look like a mini laptop – and when folded, like a pocket size smartphone.
10-inch OLED display and 120Hz refresh rate
When this Tri-Fold smartphone is fully opened, it will have a large OLED display of about 10 inches which will support a refresh rate of 120Hz. This will not only double the fun of your video watching but it can also become a great tool for multitasking and productivity.
Whether you want to watch a movie or work on a big presentation – this phone will work like your pocket tablet in every task. And this is Samsung’s aim – to bring technology to the pocket but expand the scope.
Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset
Such a phone will not only be big in appearance, but its power will also be equally high. It is expected to be equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which is one of the most powerful mobile chips ever.
This chipset will not only give smooth performance but will also handle AI features and high-end gaming like butter. This phone is going to be a powerhouse – not just a phone, but like a pocketable computer.
Professional grade camera
With folding technology, Samsung is not behind anyone in terms of photography. Galaxy G Fold can be given a 50MP triple camera setup – which will include wide angle, telephoto and ultra wide lens.
The front camera is also said to be 12MP, which will be perfect for video calling and selfies. Overall, with this phone you can get DSLR like photo quality, that too without taking any extra gear.
S Pen Support
Samsung has always been known for S Pen and this Tri-Fold phone is also expected to get S Pen support. This means that this phone will be perfect not only for watching and listening but also for creative activities like writing, designing and sketching.
Such a phone can become very special for those who are artists, designers or feel the need for any kind of digital notebook.
Battery and charging
To run such a big screen and powerful processor, a strong battery is needed – and keeping this in mind, it is being said that a 5,700mAh battery will be given in it.
Talking about the charging speed, according to the leaks, 25W wired charging will be given in it. Yes, it may seem a little less but balancing such a big technology is not an easy task.
Starting price of about ₹ 2.49 lakh
As the technology is advancing, the prices of the phone are also going up at the same pace. This new Tri-Fold phone can be Samsung’s most expensive phone till date, whose price is believed to be around $2,900 (about ₹ 2.49 lakh).
That is, this phone will be for now only for those who are crazy about technology, or have a passion to try every new innovation first.
Initial release limited
According to reports, the first-generation model of the Galaxy G Fold will initially be launched in only a few markets – including countries like South Korea and China.
After this, its second-generation version will be launched in more countries, perhaps including India, in 2026. Samsung first wants to test this technology in a limited range so that it can be further improved based on user feedback.
