ITR Filing 2025: Taxpayers are currently filing their ITRs. There are different forms for different taxpayers. Taxpayers have to fill these forms correctly to file ITR. If any mistake is made, the Income Tax Department can send a notice. In such a situation, all the forms should be understood before filling out the ITR. Apart from this, before filing your ITR, familiarise yourself with Form 26AS, AIS, and TIS.

Form 26AS, AIS, and TIS are crucial for filing income tax returns accurately and easily. If you use these three correctly, then your return will be filed correctly. Additionally, the likelihood of making a mistake or receiving a notice is reduced.

What is Form 26AS?

Form 26AS is considered a kind of tax passbook. It contains information about the tax for the whole year. It contains information about TDS deduction. Like how much TDS has been deducted. TDS deducted on buying a property, TDS deducted on bank interest, or TCS on any transaction – all the information is available.

Earlier, it used to contain many types of information. However, after the assessment year 2023-24, only information about TDS and TCS is visible. This information can be seen on the TRACES portal. Apart from this, other information is visible in AIS i.e. Annual Information Statement. It can be seen on the official website of e-filing of Income Tax.

What is the meaning of AIS?

AIS, i.e. Annual Information Statement, contains more information than Form 26AS. It does not contain information about income tax, but rather details regarding investment, dividend, interest on savings bank accounts, rental income, mutual funds, shares, property purchases and sales, money sent abroad, and GST turnover, among others.

What is TIS?

Taxpayers are given TIS, i.e. Taxpayer Information Summary, along with AIS. In this, all the financial details are told together in the form of a summary. Information is given according to category in it, such as information about salary, interest, dividend etc. If you want to take pre-filled data while filing returns, then through TIS, the data will already come in the form, and your filing will become easy.

Important for correct tax filing

If you want to file returns without any mistakes and want to avoid problems like a notice later, then understand and check Form 26AS, AIS and TIS properly. These forms make your filing easy and correct.
