What is PM Yashasvi Yojana?

The PM Yashasvi Yojana has been launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment for students belonging to OBC (Other Backward Classes), EBC (Economically Backward Class), and DNT (Denotified Nomadic Tribes) categories. This scheme provides financial support for education from Class 9 to post-graduation.

It is a sub-scheme under the PM Yuva Achievers Scholarship Award Scheme for Vibrant India. The goal is to help meritorious students from these categories get access to quality education.

  • In the Top Class Education Scheme, students can get a scholarship of up to ₹1,25,000.

Eligibility for PM Yashasvi Yojana

  1. The applicant must be a citizen of India
  2. The family’s annual income should not be more than ₹2.5 lakh
  3. The student must belong to the OBC, EBC, or DNT category (not SC/ST)
  4. If the student is getting another scholarship, they must give it up to receive this one
  5. Scholarship will not be given if the same course is repeated (e.g., BA after BSc)
  6. Only two children from a family can get this scholarship

  • The scholarship amount is sent directly to the beneficiary’s bank account via DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer)

  • Payment is made in instalments, released before August 15 every year

How to Apply for PM Yashasvi Yojana?

Students from OBC/EBC/DNT categories already studying in Top Class Schools can apply online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) using marks from their previous final exams.

Step 1: Registration

  1. Go to the official website of the National Scholarship Portal

  2. Click on New Registration under Applicant Corner

  3. Read the instructions carefully and proceed

  4. Fill in all the required details and register

  5. You will receive a User ID and Password

Step 2: Application

  1. Log in with your application ID and password

  2. Select the scholarship and fill the application form

  3. Upload the required documents and submit

  4. The school nodal officer will verify the form online

  5. It will then be verified by the state government online
