Have you ever thought that an electric car can travel more than 3000KM in just 5 minutes of charge? Yes, this is not a fantasy but is going to become a reality! Chinese company Huawei has claimed to launch a solid-state battery that will change the world of electric vehicles. If this technology is successful, it will not take long for the era of petrol-diesel cars to end. So let’s know about it in detail.

What is Huawei’s innovation?

Let us tell you that Huawei has claimed to create a new solid-state electric vehicle battery, which will give a range of more than 3000KM on a single charge. The most surprising thing is that this battery can be fully charged in just 5 minutes. That is, now you will not have to wait for hours at the charging station. Just time to drink a cup of tea, and your car is completely ready again!

How does this battery work

Huawei’s new battery uses nitrogen-doped sulfide electrolyte, which increases the energy density to 400-500 Wh/kg. It is 2-3 times more powerful than existing lithium-ion batteries. Apart from this, this battery supports ultra-fast charging, which makes 0 to 100% charging possible in just 5 minutes.

What are the challenges?

Lack of infrastructure: For such fast charging, the electricity grid and charging stations will also have to be upgraded. Currently, most charging stations support speeds up to 50-150 kW, but this battery of Huawei will probably need a speed of 1000 kW+. That is, not just the battery, but the entire infrastructure will need changes.

Real-world performance: This data is according to CLTC (China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle). If tested as per EPA cycle, the range can go up to 2000+ KM but that is still more than any EV available today.
