DA Hike- There is good news for Haryana government employees. The Naib Saini government of the state has increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) of employees receiving salary-pension as per the Fifth and Sixth Pay Commission by 6 to 11 percent. In this regard, the Finance Department has issued two separate orders. The new rates have been implemented from January 2025.

Under the order, the existing rate of DA and DR of employees and pensioners availing salary and pension as per the Fifth Pay Commission has been increased by 11%, after which DA has increased from 455% to 466%. DA/DR of employees availing the benefit of Sixth Pay Commission has been increased by 6%, after which the existing rate of DA and DR has increased from 246% to 252%.

The new rates of dearness allowance will be applicable from January 2025, so arrears from January to May will also be available. The benefit of increased DA and DR will be paid along with the salary and pension of June 2025 which will be available in July. The contribution of 50 paise and above on account of dearness allowance and dearness relief can be rounded off to the next higher rupee and the contribution of less than 50 paise can be ignored. As per the Seventh Pay Commission, the dearness allowance of the employees receiving salary-pension has already been increased by two percent from 535 to 55%.

In March, the Central Government had increased the dearness allowance of central employees and pensioners by 2% from January 2025, after which in April, the Haryana government also increased the dearness allowance of its employees and pensioners from 53 percent to 55 percent. More than 6 lakh employees and pensioners got the benefit of this. The salary and pension of April 2025 along with the outstanding arrears of 3 months were paid in May.
