Retirement Benefits – Ahead of Rath Yatra, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has made a big announcement for the temporary employees of the state. The Chief Minister has approved the proposal to increase the lump sum benefit on termination of service from Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh.

According to the new decision, any temporary employee whose service is ending, whether he is not adjusted to a regular post or has not completed five years of service, will now be given a lump sum amount of Rs 2.5 lakh. At the same time, those employees who have served for more than five years on a regular post will get a minimum gratuity amount of Rs 2.5 lakh at the time of retirement.

Apart from this, the government has also decided that this one-time benefit will be increased by 10 percent every two years. For this, the departments will not need to take prior permission from the Finance Department; they will be able to implement this increase automatically.

This announcement, which came a day before the Rath Yatra, will boost the morale of thousands of temporary employees working in various departments of the state. This decision reflects the Chief Minister’s commitment towards the welfare of the employees. On this auspicious occasion, Lord Jagannath along with his elder brother Lord Balabhadra and sister Devi Subhadra will depart for their aunt’s house, the Gundicha temple, on three huge chariots. Lord Jagannath will be seated on the Nandighosha chariot, Lord Balabhadra on the Taladhwaja chariot, while Devi Subhadra will take her seat on the Darpadalan chariot.
