MG electric: MG Motor has established a strong footprint in India’s electric vehicle market, almost catching up with Tata Motors by only a few hundred units. Windsor EV has been a boon for MG and has turned it into India’s top electric vehicle. Even MG’s electric vehicles are doing better than its petrol and diesel ones. Now, the firm is gearing up to give its customers a small shock by increasing prices from July 1.
MG Price Hike from July 1
From July, MG is raising its car prices by 1.5 percent. The increase will be different from model to model and variant to variant, so some models will have slightly different price rises. MG has cited the reason for this revision as higher raw material and component costs. The company is also coping with increased production costs due to economic factors. That is why any buyer who plans to purchase an MG car should do so before the price hike takes effect.
Model-Wise Anticipated Price Hike
If you are looking at Windsor EV, which costs between ₹14 and ₹18.31 lakh, the increase will be between ₹21,000 to ₹27,465. Comet EV, at present between ₹7.36 and ₹9.86 lakh, will increase by approximately ₹11,040 to ₹14,790. Hector will increase by ₹21,375 to ₹34,710 above its ₹14.25 to ₹23.14 lakh price tag. Hector Plus may become more expensive by ₹26,250 to ₹35,910. MG Gloster, already in the range of ₹41.07 to ₹46.24 lakh, is expected to become even more expensive by ₹61,605 to ₹69,360. ZS EV will increase by ₹26,985 to ₹30,750, and Astor might increase by ₹16,950 to ₹27,825.
Future MG Models at Goodwood
MG is not only focusing on India. It is preparing to shine globally by showcasing new models at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed from July 10 to 13. Last year, the company celebrated its 100th anniversary at the same event. This time, MG will unveil Cyberster Black, Cyber X Concept, and MG EX4 along with two brand-new EVs.
MG mentions that these two new electric cars will carry state-of-the-art technology, although no names have been announced. One might be the IM Motors IM6, which is a partnership between SAIC Motor, Alibaba Group, and Zhangjiang Hi-Tech. MG has already started teasing these new unveilings for the opening day of the event on July 10.
