Tata Cars in India: Tata Motors has achieved an unprecedented safety milestone, surprising the Indian auto industry. In a glorious feat, all eight of its test vehicles have achieved a perfect 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP. These Indian road condition-specific ratings not only established consumer confidence but also provided a big boost to the brand’s market performance.
Tata Harrier EV Delivers Outstanding Safety Performance
Tata’s newest launch, the Harrier EV, achieved flawless scores in Bharat NCAP tests. For adult safety, it attained the maximum 32 out of 32 points. In child safety, it achieved a remarkable 45 out of 49 points. The electric SUV also performed supremely in frontal and side impact tests with 16/16 ratings. It offers up to 600 km range in a single charge.
Harrier Matches High Standards
The ICE variant of the Harrier was tested in December 2023 and was BNCAP’s first SUV test. It achieved 30.08/32 for adults and 44.54/49 for children, the same as the Safari. These ratings make it one of India’s safest large SUVs.
Curve EV Gets 5-Star Rating
Tata’s electric coupe SUV, the Curve EV, followed suit with a 5-star rating. It was awarded 30.81 points in adult safety and 44.83 points in child protection. The EV not only provides innovation in design but also upholds Tata’s emphasis on passenger security.
Tata Curve Maintains ICE Variant Equally Strong
Even Tata Curve’s ICE variant did well in BNCAP, achieving 29.50/32 for adult safety and 43.66/49 for children. Directly competing with Citroën Basalt, it justifies Tata’s consistency in powertrains.
Nexon EV Maintains Safety in Electric Lineup
Tested in May 2024, Nexon EV scored 29.86/32 in adult protection and 44.95/49 in child safety. This is a strong case for it to be one of the safest and highest-performing electric cars prior to Curve EV taking center stage.
Nexon ICE Maintains the Score High
Petrol/diesel version of Nexon was tested in October. Equipped with similar safety features as its EV sister, it scored 29.41 points for adult and 43.83 for child safety. This indicates Tata’s seriousness towards safety on both electric and ICE platforms.
Safari Delivers Premium Safety
Tata’s upscale SUV Safari, also tried out in December 2023, wasn’t disappointing either. With identical scores as the Harrier—30.08 for adults and 44.54 for kids—it still stands among the best bets for families looking for space and premium safety.
Tata Punch EV Impresses in Compact Segment
The Punch EV, on test in May 2024, earned 31.46/32 in adult safety and 45/49 for child safety. Its success has also made it Tata’s top-selling car in the last six months. It is safe despite being small, providing class-leading protection that makes it a leader in the EV category.
