Honda Activa E: With escalating fuel costs and electric mobility gaining traction, Honda has launched a cost-saving feature for its Activa e. This latest initiative isn’t merely a price cut—it’s a business game-changer in the e-scooter space, providing urban commuters a cost-effective and intelligent way to make the transition to EVs.
Affordable Battery Plan Brings Relief
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has introduced a cost-effective battery rental model for its electric Activa, BaaS Lite (Battery-as-a-Service). For this scheme, customers will pay only Rs.678 per month, without GST. This announcement is for consumers who want to purchase an EV but are not willing to bear the huge cost of battery ownership.
How the BaaS Lite Plan Works
The BaaS Lite plan provides a limit of 20kWh of energy per month, estimated to be enough to travel a distance of as much as 600 km. Should a user consume more than the amount available each month, a token Rs.70 charge per extra kWh is levied. This variant is perfect for in-city short commutes, where daily consumption is seldom beyond these limits.
Additional Subscription Options for Various Requirements
In addition to the Lite plan, Honda offers two other plans to cater to varying usage habits:
- Basic Plan: Rs.1,999 per month for 35kWh and about 1,040 km of estimated range. Additional usage comes at Rs.35/kWh.
- Advanced Plan: Rs.3,599 per month, with 87kWh, which has a staggering 2,600 km range, with dedicated Rs.35/kWh overage cost.
What Sets the Activa E Apart
Honda Activa e has two changeable battery packs of 1.5kWh each. It has a range of up to 102 km on full charge. The ex-showroom price begins at Rs.1.17 lakh and goes up to Rs.1.51 lakh for the flagship variant. The double battery configuration provides convenience in terms of charging flexibility and extended riding.
New EV Concept Store in Bengaluru
Honda has launched its very first EV Concept Store in Bengaluru, reflecting the face of the brand’s electric future. The store includes LED screens, interactive technology areas, and kid-friendly interaction zones. Besides the Activa e, the QC1 model is also showcased. This place not only creates awareness about new products but also informs users about safe EV technology.
Why This Move Was Needed
earlier BaaS offers seemed pricey to several users, and that slowed down the adoption of Activa e. With this cost-effective Lite plan, Honda is looking to fill that hole and make owning an EV easier and cheaper. For city commuters, Activa e now presents itself as an affordable and prudent electric scooter option.
