Bank Holiday– On the occasion of Bakrid (Eid-ul-Azha) or Eid-al-Adha, banks will remain closed in many places in India on Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7, 2025. Apart from banks, government offices, schools and colleges will also remain closed in many places across the country on Bakrid. Let us know where and what will remain closed on June 6 and 7.
Where will the banks remain closed?
This time banks will remain closed for two days on Bakrid i.e. 6th and 7th June. In many places banks are closed on 6th June, while in many places banks will remain closed on 7th June. Tomorrow i.e. on 6th June (Friday) only banks will remain closed in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi. On 7th June (Saturday) most of the banks will remain closed in the rest of the country.
However, banks will remain open on 7th June in Ahmedabad, Gangtok, Itanagar, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, as it is the first Saturday and as per the rule banks remain closed only on the second and fourth Saturdays.
Online banking will continue
Despite the holidays, online banking and digital services will continue as before. Customers will be able to easily use UPI, NEFT/RTGS, debit/credit cards, checkbooks, demand drafts and other services. Blocking ATM card, ordering a new card, updating account, setting standing instructions or applying for a locker, all this can be done online.
Most government offices under the central government will remain closed on June 7 as Bakrid has been declared a gazetted holiday. The holiday in Delhi will be confirmed on the advice of the Delhi government after the moon is sighted.
In other states, holidays may be changed as per the decision of the state government or union territories.
Schools and colleges will also remain closed
Most schools and colleges in the country will remain closed on June 7, but the last date of holiday will be based on the decision of the state government or local administration. Official notices will be issued in many states only after the moon is sighted.
