ATM Charges: Nowadays, we all often need to withdraw money from ATM, but do you know that banks also charge you for withdrawing money after some limit? If you withdraw money within the free transaction limit given by the bank in a month, then there is no charge. But as soon as your limit is over, then you have to pay a charge on every transaction. Let us now talk about the ATM charges of the 5 big banks of India, so that you can know when and how much charge will have to be paid in which bank.
State Bank of India
First of all, let’s talk about the country’s largest bank, State Bank of India i.e. SBI. For SBI customers, withdrawing money up to 5 transactions from the bank’s ATM in both metro and non-metro cities is free. On the other hand, if you are withdrawing money from the ATM of other banks, then 10 transactions are available free. But when these free transactions are over, you will have to pay about Rs 15 plus GST on every financial transaction from the bank’s own ATM, while withdrawing money from the ATM of other banks will cost Rs 21 plus GST. If we talk about non-financial transactions, like checking balance, then there is no charge on it at SBI ATMs, but Rs 10 plus GST is charged on non-financial transactions from ATMs of other banks. All these rates have come into effect from May 1.
HDFC Bank
Now let’s talk about HDFC Bank. Customers in metro cities get 3 free transactions at HDFC Bank ATMs, while in non-metro cities this number is 5. When this limit is over, a charge of Rs 23 plus GST has to be paid on every financial transaction. Apart from this, a charge of Rs 8.50 plus GST is also levied on every non-financial transaction. This has also come into effect from May 1.
Punjab National Bank
The situation is similar in the case of Punjab National Bank i.e. PNB. PNB’s ATMs give its customers 5 free transactions every month. After that, a charge of Rs 10 plus GST will be levied on every transaction. Other banks’ ATMs offer 3 free transactions in metro cities and 5 free transactions in non-metro cities, but after that, Rs 23 plus GST will have to be paid on every financial transaction. Rs 11 plus GST will be charged on non-financial transactions. These rates are also applicable from May 1.
Axis Bank
Now talking about Axis Bank, here 3 free transactions are available in metro cities and 5 free transactions are available in non-metro cities. After this, Rs 23 plus GST has to be paid on every financial transaction. Rs 8.50 plus GST will be charged on non-financial transactions. These rates will be applicable from July 1.
ICICI Bank
ICICI Bank’s ATM charges are also similar to Axis Bank. 3 free transactions are given in metro cities and 5 free transactions are given in non-metro cities. After this, Rs 23 plus GST will have to be paid on every financial transaction and Rs 8.50 plus GST will have to be charged on non-financial transactions. This will also be applicable from July 1.
So this way you can see that no matter which bank you have, you may have to pay a charge for withdrawing money or doing any other transaction from the ATM after the free transaction limit. So keep in mind your limit and use the ATM only as per your need so that unnecessary charges can be avoided.
