Subsidy on Electricity- Good news for farmers. The Himachal Pradesh government has taken a big decision in the interest of the farmers of the state . The government will now provide electricity to the farmers at the rate of just Rs 4 per unit . This decision will directly benefit thousands of farmers who use electricity for irrigation and farming . A state government spokesperson said that the Himachal Pradesh government on Monday announced a power subsidy of Rs 4.04 per unit to agricultural consumers. Now electricity will be provided to farmers at the rate of just one rupee per unit.

The state government will bear the cost

He said that the remaining cost of Rs 4.04 per unit will be borne by the state government. The spokesperson said that in this way the government has confirmed its commitment to support the agriculture sector. He also said that due to the delay in issuing the subsidy notification, some farmers may have received electricity bills at higher rates.

However, this will be adjusted in the subsequent bill, so that there is no financial burden on the farmers. He further said that the government is taking all necessary measures to support the farmers and improve their livelihood . Announcing this decision , Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that this step is an important effort towards making the farmers self – reliant . Under this decision , farmers will be given a huge subsidy compared to the actual cost of electricity . At present , the economic burden on farmers was increasing due to the high rates of electricity used in farming . Now, getting electricity at the rate of Rs 4 per unit will give great relief to the farmers .

Decision taken to increase the income of farmers

The Chief Minister also said that this decision has been taken with the aim of strengthening the agricultural economy of Himachal Pradesh and increasing the income of farmers . A large population in the state is dependent on agriculture , and low electricity rates will help them adopt modern technology and increase production .
