Bank Holiday- Is there work left at the bank? Are you thinking of going today, Monday? Then here’s some important news for you. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) calendar, banks will remain closed in some parts of the country today on May 12, 2025 on the occasion of Buddha Purnima.

RBI has declared a bank holiday on Monday, May 12, 2025 in many cities including Agartala, Aizawl, Belapur, Bhopal, Dehradun, Itanagar, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla and Srinagar. It is worth noting that according to the RBI calendar, banks across the country will remain closed on Saturday, May 10, 2025 and Sunday, May 11, 2025.

What is Buddha Purnima?

Buddha Purnima is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Prince Siddhartha Gautama, the founder of Buddhism, who attained enlightenment. This holy festival is celebrated on the full moon day in South, Southeast and East Asia, usually in the month of April or May.
