None of us has forgotten the pain of the Pahalgam attack. Operation Sindoor certainly worked to heal those wounds, but the panicked Pakistan is still not giving up its nefarious activities. While our brave soldiers are giving a befitting reply to the enemies on the borders, the government has come forward to support the families. Along with the help of ₹ 3 lakh from the Central Government, the Haryana government has now announced financial assistance of ₹ 1 crore to the families of the martyrs. So, what are these schemes, and how will they benefit? Let’s know in detail.
The Central Government will give help of ₹ 3 lakh
The Central Government’s ‘Central Scheme for Assistance to Civilians Victims of Terrorist, Communal and Naxalite Violence’ is a great support for the families of those who lost their lives in the violence. Under this scheme, the families of those killed in terrorist or Naxalite attacks or communal riots get a one-time financial assistance of ₹ 3 lakh. There is also a provision for help in case of disability. Foreigners and NRIs are also entitled to it.
The victim families also get health cards through which free treatment can be availed. The application can be made in the DM or state government office within 3 years of the incident! This assistance is not received immediately but in the form of an FD for 3 years, so that the family can get financial security in the future.

Martyr soldiers’ families will now get ₹1 crore
Honoring the brave soldiers who have been martyred for the country, the Haryana government has made a big announcement. The government has doubled the financial assistance given to martyred soldiers. Now, if any soldier or officer of the army and paramilitary forces is martyred, then his family will be given financial assistance of ₹1 crore.
Earlier Haryana government used to give ₹50 lakh. This amount will be given to the families of all the soldiers of Haryana origin, no matter where they are living in the country. Under Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army is giving a befitting reply to Pakistan for its nefarious activities, and in the meantime, this step of the Haryana government is a big support for the families of the martyrs.
₹1 crore will be given even on death due to an accident or a heart attack during duty
Additional Chief Secretary, Military and Paramilitary Welfare Department, Vijayendra Kumar, has issued a notification in this regard. Families of soldiers martyred on or after February 2023 will get increased financial assistance.
Dependents will get assistance of ₹1 crore even in case of accident, heart attack, air accident, accident at sea, casualties during internal security operations, election duty, natural disaster, and rescue operations during duty. This decision ensures that the families of soldiers who lose their lives in any unfortunate incident during duty get adequate financial assistance.
Even if the martyr’s wife marries again, she will get ₹35 lakh
Even if the martyr’s wife marries again, she will still be entitled to financial assistance. She will get 35 percent of ₹1 crore i.e. ₹35 lakh. If the martyr does not have children, then 50% will be given to the wife and 50 percent to the parents. If the parents are not alive, then the wife will get ₹50 lakh and the children will get ₹50 lakh. This provision ensures that the family members of the martyr remain financially secure.
Unmarried martyr’s siblings can also get a relief amount
If the martyr is unmarried and the parents are not alive, then the grant will be given to the brothers and sisters. No other family member or relative will be eligible for the ex-gratia amount. This rule ensures that the assistance reaches the closest relatives of the martyr.

Will get ₹1 crore benefit
Dependents of martyred Agniveers of Army, Navy, Air Force, Indian Coast Guard, Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Assam Rifles, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Rapid Action Force will also come under the purview of the government’s ₹1 crore benefit scheme.
The Haryana government will provide financial assistance of ₹1 crore to the dependents of martyred Agniveers working under the Agneepath scheme on the lines of martyred soldiers and paramilitary personnel. Currently, there are 6153 Agniveers from Haryana in the Indian Army. This decision will also provide financial security to the families of Agniveers.
Even if disabled in a war or a terrorist attack, assistance of up to ₹35 lakh will be given
If a soldier or officer becomes disabled while serving in a war, terrorist attack, border encounter, or United Nations Peacekeeping Force, he will be assisted up to ₹35 lakh by the Haryana government. ₹35 lakh will be given on more than 70 percent disability, ₹25 lakh on 50 to 69 percent disability, and ₹15 lakh on 20 to 49 percent disability. This provision ensures that the soldiers who become disabled while serving the country also get financial assistance.
