Gujarat Titans pacer Mohammed Siraj restricted Sunrisers Hyderabad to 152/8 in 20 overs in the IPL 2025 match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday. Siraj took 4 wickets for just 17 runs in the match.
After being invited to bat first, Travis Head hit two back-to-back fours off Siraj’s bowling. However, Siraj dismissed him on the last ball of the opening over. Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma then struggled to score freely during the power play. The pair could add only 29 runs for the second wicket.
Why Did Kavya Maran Get Angry?
Shortly after, Mohammed Siraj sent Abhishek Sharma to the pavilion in the fifth over. After losing both openers early, Hyderabad was 45/2 at the end of the power play, their second-lowest score in nine innings since 2024. Ishan Kishan, who had spent a good amount of time at the crease, couldn’t capitalize on the start and lost his wicket to Prasidh Krishna in the eighth over after scoring 17 runs.
When Ishan was dismissed, team owner Kavya Maran visibly became angry. A video of her muttering something in frustration quickly went viral. Kavya, who attends every Sunrisers match to encourage the team, showed her disappointment after the early collapse.
A Brief Recovery from Nitish Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen
Despite the early wickets, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen provided some relief to Hyderabad’s struggling innings. The duo rotated the strike well against Rashid Khan and Sai Kishore in the middle overs, putting together a 50-run partnership for the fourth wicket. However, Sai Kishore dismissed both batsmen in consecutive overs.

Top Scores in Hyderabad’s Struggling Innings
Nitish Reddy was the top scorer for Hyderabad, making 31 runs off 34 balls. Klaasen contributed 27 runs, including a six and two fours, before he was dismissed.
Hyderabad’s Late Collapse and Siraj’s Best IPL Performance
Hyderabad’s hopes of a strong finish were dashed when Krishna dismissed Kamindu Mendis for just 1 run in the 17th over, leaving the team at 120/6. In the next over, Siraj showcased excellent death bowling, taking the wickets of Aniket Verma (18) and Simarjit Singh (0) to complete his four-wicket haul. His figures of 4/17 were his best bowling performance in IPL history. Alongside Siraj, Rashid Khan and Prasidh Krishna bowled economically, taking two wickets each.
